Session 8: Interview / Journalism

The content of the session was fashion journalism. I am a person who tends to avoid reading. However, I enjoy telling stories to people either verbally or visually. I like to have a conversation in face to face. I think fashion journalism is a field that deals with the reporting and publishing of fashion-related information across several media outlets, such as fashion magazines, websites, and television. In addition, it isn’t about just writing, and it is more than just writing about clothes. Fashion journalism could involve researching and writing about the latest fashion trends, styles, stories, conversations, movements and influences. Journalists get this information by working with stylists, interviewing fashion designers, attending fashion shows, photoshoots, and events which means fashion journalism is key in the fashion industry.

Fashion journalists are responsible for publishing and producing articles, blogs and news pieces related to trends in the fashion industry. From covering prominent designers to newcomers to fashion icons, this form of journalism is purely entertainment and promotion-focused. A fashion journalist performs a plethora of responsibilities or duties such as it has to do immense research work and digging up about the recent and the old trends. They are also expected to assist with the styling of the models, interviewing prominent personalities and upcoming fashion icons in the industry. In addition, they produce fashion articles/news for magazines and social media. I think fashion journalism embraces all kinds of media commentary, primarily newspaper and magazine articles, about the fashion industry, those who populate the fashion world, and fashion itself. As such, it has commercial, ideological, and symbolic functions. On the other hand, It needs to be paid attention to every word because I think sometimes the letters could be a misunderstanding. The words have significant power, but it works positively and negatively. Therefore, I want to write interviews that can be eye-catching in a good way to readers in SDS tasks.
