In the second design session, I worked on my favourite ideas and applied colour tests to photocopies. When I selected a colour story using Pantone studio, there were bright, vibrant, and muted atmospheric colours. I needed to be careful because the options of colours can’t just be colour from my photographic reference from my research pages. The colour story was sometimes similar and sometimes very different depending on the lights and angle of taking the photos of my research pages. I enjoyed experimenting and finding my favourite colours combinations. My artist research pages are very warm and cozy colours at the same time, very colourful. Therefore, it was pretty interesting when Pantone studio showed totally different bright colours to the artist’s works.
When I applied the colours to my line drawing, I was worried about whether the part of the design looked nice with the colour choice or not. However, as the tutor told us, I felt the best way to learn is to make mistakes and improve and rectify my works. In addition, as fashion innovators of the future, It is essential to challenge the traditional rules and create new ideas of the colour combinations for me. At the same time, when I think about commercial fashion, I need to follow colour trends. In contrast, if I want to stand out and directionally have my design style, it is necessary to challenge conventional rules of colour for unique design outcomes. Therefore, I can successfully work with colour in my final illustration lineup of 4 figures that include shoes. I want to show how my colour story from researches express well and show the process. I like using paint, but this time I am also trying different media to see the results. Then If it works well in media except for paints, I will apply it in the final illustrations.
